Reasons Why Your Email Open Rates Are Decreasing
For the most part, great emails will get opened. But that isn’t always the case. There are billions of emails being sent out every day. Yes, you’ve read that right. Billions of emails, so if yours isn’t getting opened, then there’s something missing.
There could be a number of different reasons why your emails aren’t being opened. So let’s go over some of the best ways to make sure that when you hit send, that your email is the best it can possibly be.
What Can I Do To Improve My Email Open Rates?
Are You Sending Out Enough Emails?
While people often talk about receiving too many emails and feeling as though they’re being spammed. The reverse can also have a negative effect.
Depending on the business you’re in, the email rates are different. Some industries send out emails every day, while others may only send out a handful every month.
You should do a little check on email rates for your industry and make sure that you’re sending enough out. You can be consistent without spamming.
Are Your Subject Lines Personalized?
The subject line can be the most important part of your email. Of course, the content is key but to get anyone to read your content, you need an appealing subject line. Nothing mundane like Newsletter, who’s going to open that?
Personalize it, make it specifically about the recipient of that email. We NEED your help, or You’re essential to our success
Make it about them, and make it interesting. When it’s personalized it jumps out and recipients are more likely to open it.
The best way that I can put it is that you shouldn’t be telling them what you can do rather explaining how they can help.
Are You Getting Right To The Point?
This has become a rule of thumb for pretty much every kind of marketing strategy. People no longer read through big blocks of text to try and figure out what it is that you’re trying to say. Get to the point, and get to it within the first paragraph.
Lock them in, and then explain the details. Don’t use too many spammy words that make the email sound automated. Be personable and get to the point. If you don’t, you’ll lose them, and they may never open another email that you send them.
Make Your Email List Excited To Read Your Emails
At the end of the day, your subscribers and other email recipients need to have a reason to open your emails. Make it worthwhile for them. Offer something for those who go through the email. Do something that separates you from the billions of other emailers.
That the biggest thing that you can do. When people receive so many emails, they all blend together.
It’s your job to write a short, concise, and exciting email that grabs the reader’s attention. Make sure you do it with regularity, and you should see an increase in your open rates.
