Network Marketing Myths - Only people at the top make money!

If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and are looking for a rewarding way to put it into action, you may have looked at network marketing as an option. Network marketing, formerly called multi-level marketing (MLM), is an excellent way to expand your professional network and develop a lucrative source of income. Unfortunately, there are a lot of myths surrounding network marketing that could discourage interested entrepreneurs. One of the top myths is that only people at the top make money. Here’s why that’s not true.

Network marketing companies are designed to put everyone on a level playing field.

Unlike in corporate jobs — and unlike the pyramid schemes that some people mistake for MLM — there’s no inherent hierarchy in network marketing. The rewards you reap increase in proportion to the work you put in, and even newbies can end up making big bucks if they network effectively.

Think Law of Manifestation

By contrast, you may never be able to get a raise or “move up” at your corporate job due to office politics, a rigid organizational chart, or favoritism. That’s what makes network marketing appealing to people who are sick of their corporate job: you get rewarded, monetarily and otherwise, for your hard work.

Why Is Practicing Gratitude So Hard?

There are a number of reasons why feeling grateful in our daily lives becomes a real challenge. Of course it doesn’t help that the very basis of our society is built on rampant consumerism, which pushes the idea of scarcity onto us even when we’ve got more belongings than we know what to do with. This worldview only focuses on the things we don’t have yet and the things we want, making gratitude fundamentally impossible.

In other cases, we also become entwined in our own victim narrative and start to view ourselves as a target of unfair circumstances. While there are certainly times when someone is actually harming us and gratitude is really not an appropriate reaction, there are other instances when we fall victim to our own perspective.

It’s easy to see why true feelings of gratitude can be hard to achieve if we’re conditioned to feel as victim of our own perceived deficit. Yet, with persistent practice, gratitude can thrive in the most unlikely of places and circumstances.

Network marketing companies don’t require you to put up money.

People who think that MLMs are the same as pyramid schemes assume that only people at the top make money — because that’s how it is in pyramid schemes.

One of the chief differences between MLMs and pyramid schemes is that the latter require you to put up tons of money (potentially thousands of dollars) for empty promises of riches. When you start network marketing, you may have to spend some money on training, a website, and products, but you’re making the same investment you would make in any business. And if you put in the work, you can expect to make money.

Network marketing companies present a lot of opportunity.

As mentioned above, your mobility in a corporate job is limited, and you might be competing with a lot of people for just one position.

While there’s a myth that network marketing is oversaturated, the opposite is true. Because it’s decentralized, there’s always room for growth. The key is to carve out your niche and know how to leverage your network. Once you do that, you’ll quickly discover a lot more opportunities for growth than you’d find in a corporate job.

Network marketing encourages you to help others.

People who are used to cutthroat corporate jobs assume that network marketers only make money if they’re at the top. But the truth is, many network marketing companies encourage their participants to help each other out. As the saying goes, a rising tide floats all boats. The beauty of MLMs is that you’re connected to hundreds of other people who all want each other to succeed. With such a structure, it’s not only possible but also likely that “newbies” can make just as much money as old pros.
